Bible Backdrop

James 1:5-8

If you need wisdom — if you want to know what God wants you to do — ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.  But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.  People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.  They can't make up their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do.
NLT

Ps 111:10
Reverence for the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom.
The rewards of wisdom come to all who obey him.
Praise his name forever!

NLT

It is written we are to ask God for wisdom - and He will generously give.  Approaching His throne with confidence, we are to be consumed with the awe of His very reality coupled with the fear of all that He is capable of, all in complete recognition of personal powerlessness.  He alone will guide this blameworthy soul without blame or disapproval.  It is written we must expect God to answer.  In divided allegiance I would flutter about, restlessly driven by the urgency of my doubtful mind.  I would scramble for the answers and gain nothing but the wind slapping me in the face turning my eyes away from the only one that can set me back on course.  But You, LORD, You alone give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you. (  )

In Him I will not waver.  In Him I will not sway.  In Him I will not fall.  In Him I will be certain.  In Him I will be marked with unfathomable understanding.  In Him I will be escorted to keen discernment.  In Him I will be bequeathed sound judgment.  The rewards of wisdom are found In Him.  Heb 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.  The rewards of wisdom come to all who OBEY...

Psalm 34:11
Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
